We’re spending a week at a house in Cape May, where we were able to take advantage of a last minute cancellation. I don’t mind the beach, but it’s not my first choice on how to spend a relaxing day. At least here it’s not wall to wall humanity, and the town is super nice. Plus, the roads are very bike friendly with lots of well marked sharrows; and RidewithGPS already has a few routes mapped out that I can try this week.
After recovering from a week where I really wasn’t sleeping well, I managed to get out for an early, although short, ride out to the lighthouse and back. The main road was filled with roadies and the typical beachbike crowd. That latter group basically is made up of people who only ride when they’re at the shore, and they have absolutely no situational awareness of cars or other bikers. They drive me crazy, but they also raise the alertness of drivers who must be on the constant lookout for them suddenly pulling Crazy Ivan’s without warning.
