Must be the Water

it’s been a busy week, so no ride reports.  I’m going to try to get out Saturday morning before the heat comes up.

Yesterday I took off so I could take son#1 to the doctor for his “wellness visit.”  It’s basically where they check him out and he gets his immunization shots.  They also take a bunch of measurements, which proves to be the highlight of these visits.

Here’s why:  13 years old, 5’11 1/2″ (grown 6″ in the last 11 months), size 13 shoes.  Projected height is now somewhere between 6′ 4-6″.

I’m thinking now that I might have to refit the Cannondale just for him.  He’s been bugging me about a road bike, and I have all the parts except a decent pair of drop bars, although I could put moustaches back on it.  Sheesh.  It’s like having a giraffe walking around the house!

  1. Our 15 year old son is 6ft 1 and our 20 year old daughter is 5ft 3……you can almost watch Daniel grow:-) Katie must have come from the short side of the family.

  2. Wow. Our family doesn’t have a tall side. I ended up 6′, but everyone else was under 5’8″. It must be some sort of generational genetic defect.

  3. I was 6′ tall in the 6th grade.

I attribute it to all the growth hormones in the food nowadays.

  4. Well that had to make for interesting times. I hit 6′ around 8th grade. That, combined with the blessing of early facial hair, meant that I was always the one sent in to buy the beer. Times were different then, and if you didn’t act like a jerk, they’d sell a six pack to a 14 year old.
