Pedalling Along

Ride Report: 11.17.08

November 18, 2008 · 2 Comments

Took a jaunt around the township last night.  I’m at a point now where if I don’t ride every other day, I feel unsettled.  At 33F I put on a pair of thermal tights under the wind pants, wore a  lightly quilted nylon jacket, and pulled out a nylon balaclava.  Grinding up a steady hill I felt that I was pretty warm and had to open up my collar, but once I got into a steady cruise it was just right.  Felt like I could have kept on going but I had to get home.

After routing the wiring for the light last week, I decided it would be a good idea to carry 4 or 5 zip ties in the Pendel.  You never know what they might come in handy for and they hardly take up any room.

    Zipties?

I carry around a machine shop in my rack bag.

I should clean that thing out, I have all kinds of stuff in there…it alone weighs a good 5 pounds.

I have a Crank Bros. multi tool, some tire irons, and a small pair of folding needle nose pliers in one pocket; and then a patch kit with some band-aids and a few spare bucks in the other. I also have a small Cree flashlight.

When I took my sons to the HRT a few weeks ago, I threw in a good sized adjustable wrench and forgot to take it out. I was riding around with that for a few weeks. I think that weighed two pounds alone!
